Field & Forest is rooted deep into the movement for organic food production in and around the forest and the forestland and collection of forest produces from the forest. In that respect we are different from other organic food growers in India. Moreover, our field produces and forest produces stand out for another reason. Our food growers and forest produce foragers are all Adivasis, the Scheduled Tribes and other traditional forest dwellers of Jharkhand. And to crown these all our products are processed, packed and distributed by women!

Vanashrit Mahila Samiti or Forest Dependent Women’s Cooperatives are the ones that run the show. They are supported by Jharkhand Jangal Bachao Andolan or Jharkhand Save the Forest Movement, which is an organization of repute with 20,000 odd members. The initiative is also supported by many NGOs.

Our objective is to offer healthy and natural food to people, free from chemical fertilizers and pesticides, artificially prepared seeds and artificially processed products. We seek to bring producers and consumers close to each other without the long chain of middlemen and traders. This effort not only helps the consumers to enjoy fresh products but also rewards the producers and foragers in terms of price and fame.
